“There is a doozie of a force field around us that prevents us moving forward”, the flight engineer conveyed to the captain.
“We managed to manoeuvre our way through 1001 other such beams in this last time-jump-period, using up all our reserve fuel supplies in that process, but this one seems to be insurmountable.”
He paused. “Seeking your advice sir”.
The captain knew his chief engineer well. He had not sought advice prior to this moment on the thousand year voyage through the galaxies.
The captain just said, “Wait”.
The engineer replied “I do not need to remind you sir that we have community life support supplies left for just over a week.”
The captain nodded his head and said, “Yes, you do not need to remind me, and thank you. … Wait.”
The engineer went back to the bridge and took a deep breath and announced to the crew and passengers, “We are in a holding pattern and there is no cause for alarm. The Captain has a Plan.”
