The enlightenment story: The closest I get to understanding it all in this moment is – There Is Enlightenment – regardless of me, and then there is me, perhaps at times blocking that enlightenment with some story of suffering or effort or lack or journey – and that story is not apart from the enlightenment, but rather like a cloud in the sky of it. And this understanding I am conveying here, is also a story about it all, that I tell.

My first contact with the enlightenment word was probably around 1972. 3? 4?. At that time I took it very seriously. seriously in the sense i really really believed in that state as something that could or would occur to me sometime in the future. and clearly there were some enlightened beings on the planet who could show the way to that state. Some time after that, in the mid-nineties perhaps, the word escaped from my vocabulary completely and I thought more in terms of Agile Processes and Business Analysis. Then a few months ago I started playing with the word again. It seems to have leaked out all its meaning into a puddle on the floor and is rather vacant now.

“If you want to be a grocer, or a general, or a politician, or a judge, you will invariably become it; that is your punishment. If you never know what you want to be, if you live what some might call the dynamic life but what I will call the artistic life, if each day you are unsure of who you are and what you know you will never become anything, and that is your reward.”

― Oscar Wilde
